Clutter: A Family Tradition

I’m alive, I swear! Apparently I can still lose track of time when I get fully absorbed in a project… lol.

Oh well, such is life. At least I’m really happy with the progress I’m making on my home project. I have a serious fascination with organizing and cleaning, which, let’s be honest, is no small task with four kids. Over the years, I’ve had to loosen my grip on the picture in my head of a perfectly clean, always-tidy house and allow myself to accept that this season of life comes with clutter. And that’s normal. I know most parents get it. You clean a room, move on, and then return to that same “clean” room to find Legos, shoes, socks, etc. I also have one kiddo who seems to view a freshly cleaned space as a personal invitation to transport every toy he owns directly into it.

Through all of this, I’ve learned patience and the importance of giving myself a little grace. This phase is temporary. My children will only live under my roof for so long before they head out into the world and build lives and families of their own.

So for now, I’ll keep organizing where I can, letting go where I need to, and reminding myself that a lived-in home is often a loved-in home. The mess will wait, but these days won’t. 💛
